No-smoking policy

Issue date December 2016

Oxfordshire County Council acknowledges that second-hand tobacco smoke is both a public and a workplace health hazard and has had a No Smoking Policy in all council workplaces since 1989.

Smoking is not permitted at any time in any part of OCC premises, entrances or exits, by any person regardless of their status or business within the organisation. This includes lifts, stairways, toilets, meeting or staff rooms, basements.

To ensure that the county council policy and the Health Act 2006 are complied with, all volunteers, service providers, visitors, contractors and deliverers are required to abide by the no-smoking policy when visiting or working at all county council sites.

All contracts prepared on behalf of the county must include a clause that states 'Smoking is not allowed on any Oxfordshire County Council site'.
