Post contract works

Additional works which are requested by the client at a late stage and which could cause the original contract completion date to over run are to be organised as follows:

  1. Obtain written confirmation of funding for the additional works from the client. Then either:
    • Instruct the contractor to carry out the items as post contract works having agreed with him in advance the conditions and cost.
    • Supply drawings, confirmation of funding and specification where appropriate to the FM single service provider who will arrange for the work to be carried out by the maintenance team/contractor.

The above policy is intended to avoid the situation where the works are incorporated in the contract by issuing a variation order with the client's written approval and which then results in the principal contractor applying for an extension of time and claiming overheads and profits accordingly.
